Around nearly two months ago, I was tasked by my current employer, The Philippine Star Supreme section, to interview Quark Henares on his then-recent Audience Award for Fiction Favorite win in the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival for his film Rakenrol. Since I knew that he co-wrote the film over the span of a few years with Sandwich guitarist and Let’s Fun co-DJ, Diego Castillo, I took the liberty of interviewing him as well.
Since I’ve been waiting this film since I auditioned for a role in it (oh, yes I did) as an incoming junior in Ateneo, I might’ve gotten carried away with my questions. I ended up with 20, which is a lot for an article that I was told could only be about 600 words long.
Thankfully, these wonderful, wonderful men were gracious enough to answer all of them for me.

“Cai,

Awwww.
Ultimately, I ended up with a 1, 561-word article from those five pages of gold, which I had to trim down to about 800-ish words. I’ll probably publish those 1, 561 words on another day.

In celebration of the film’s Manila premiere on July 23, I would like to post the entire interview and their brilliant answers in all their uncut glory.
